Left at the Alter

I sat on the bed in front of him and looking into his eyes, I began to unbutton the shirt I had on. The top button, the second. I slowly blinked and looked down at my shirt as I slowly unbuttoned the third and folded it back revealing my purple bra. I took my right breast out of my bra and held it in my hand. I looked up to catch his breathing slow. I left the shirt on, wide open, my full breast filling the purple lace bra. I undid the top button of my jeans and slid them over my hips. I was looking at his eyes, but his eyes were feasting on my body. My fiancé had only seen my naked a couple of times.

The corners of my white button-down shirt hung a little past my thighs. The purple and white underwear set was barely hiding my goodies when I went over to remove his shirt first and kiss on his collarbone. I didn’t feel high anymore, but my body somehow was still super sensitive like I had just partaken. Something clicked inside of Eli and he began aggressively sucking on my neck. I moaned loud and it echoed through the empty house which just turned us both on more.

“Cass, I want this. I want you bad. But I know you wanted to wait. Are you sure you wanna do this tonight?”

I unhooked my bra and freed both breasts to answer him. I walked away from him and got into the bed. He was milliseconds behind me, we were in agreement and I would be able to push the way I felt for Jeremy out of my head for good. It was all lust and my soon to be husband was about to fulfill all those needs. I didn’t doubt him for a second and I wasn’t wrong. He knew his way around a female’s body, and I was glad that we waited as long as we did. We felt like newlyweds that day. From the bed to the shower, back to the bed to the floor.

Around 11 I checked my phone and seen all of the messages from our party guests. I texted Anna and told her that we weren’t coming back for the rest of the night. I talked my fiancé into smoking, and we got high and had sex all night. In the middle of the night he mentioned that this was one of the ways he knew there was no reason to question his love for me. He wanted to make real life sacrifices and plans with me. He bought me a house! I woke the next morning on a pallet in the sunroom feeling like a million bucks.

The music traveled out of the speakers and into the souls of my guests. Torre had checked in with me a couple times. She told me that everyone seemed to be having a great time mingling while I was being prepared for the main event. The show that apparently every family member and childhood friend needed to be invited to in order to feel like you really love them.

I stood outside of the doors by a very excited Liberty. She was my flower girl and she was gorgeous like a little princess. She was an exact tiny model of both her mother Abigail and aunt Anna – it was eerie. She told me in my ear that she had the walk down and she would do anything to be able to stay after the wedding.

“We have a different party planned for all of the kids that helped out.” I said, hoping this would be just as exciting for her. I explained that her twin brother would be with her and they could take part in endless cake and dancing.

“You ready?” Torre asked from behind me. I turned around and smiled. She really should have been my maid of honor. It was due to the fact that she couldn’t be in the wedding that I decided to not have a Maid of Honor altogether. I didn’t have bridesmaids at all actually.  Torre was more of a hands-on person, when she was in charge, she was very careful how she delegated tasks and I wanted to allow her to operate as she saw fit.

Everything about her set up was beautiful – I never thought that I would have a wedding so nice. The butterflies in my stomach were swirling but I knew I was doing the right thing. I knew I loved Eli and he loved me. The life we would build would be extraordinary and I was ready. He would help battered women and I would design sculptures and we would both leave a legacy behind. Even though we didn’t make it to our wedding night as untouched our first night as a union would still be special. It was time to begin.

Torre winked at me as the procession began and the parents were brought down the staircases and to their seats.  I watched them through a small window in the door, walk to the center aisle, join arms and continue down the aisle. I peeked at my soon to be husband standing at the front of the room, a soft grin on his face.

When it was my turn, the music slowed and then faded out as another song faded in. There was only about seven seconds between the time the instrumental began and John Legend’s voice coming across the speaker singing “We’ve been together for a while now…” as my guests were asked to stand to their feet. I turned behind me and looked at Torre as she got the boys situated behind me and handed them my train. My father joined me, and she reiterated that she will tap the door three times before opening it. Right before she walked around to another door, she ran back to reposition me saying that I was not perfectly centered.

“You’re going to remember this day for the rest of your life. I want it all to be perfect when it’s captured in our memories and smartphones.” she winked at me and right before disappearing she said, “girl people are going to be talking about this wedding for years to come.” My smile was as big as her heart.

    1. Thank You! I appreciate the feedback, I really do. I’m back in the lab finishing up Precious Cargo and we have a couple characters from Left at the Alter that are going to cross over. We will see a little more of what we didn’t know about Jeremy’s relationship with one of the twins.

  1. What a great read!!! I would have never guessed that twist at the end, either! The story flowed together very well and the characters were all very interesting! I can’t wait to read more!

  2. This story was exactly what I thought it was going to be, but I absolutely LOVED the story. I didn’t think it would end like that in the beginning, but I am not surprised at all at the outcome. You have written some wonderful characters. Very real and recognizable. Thank you for sharing!
