It was hard not to stare at him as his features were so unique. As dark as he was his darker beard provided the perfect outline to his face. His teeth were blindingly white, and his smile was perfect with his lips turning back to that perfect amount of plump when the smile was on its way back to ground zero. His eyes were the color of amber – way lighter than most with dark chocolate skin tone.
I nodded and without thinking about it, I took the cart and continued walking. He was not about to be a person that I was going to entertain conversation with. His energy was overwhelming and whispered come with me. Lack of sex does this to people. If I had a regular sex life, I could appreciate a handsome man for just a handsome man. I could harmlessly flirt and walk away. This would be like walking into a viral red zone knowing 1. You’re not immune to the virus and 2 the virus could kill you. I was not ready to die over some extraordinarily fine man with a perfect smile who steals carts to get women’s attention in dollar tree. This was serious. I reached in my purse and pulled out my headphones and connected them to my phone. I put my shades on and headed back to the glass aisle to get my cases and get back to my studio.
As Satan would have it, Mr. Dark Chocolate was right behind me in the checkout line. I liked that I had on the shades so no one could tell when I was looking at him. As a small treat to myself I was just going to peak. I turned slightly in that direction and just kind of tried to appear to be looking in the aisle behind him. He made it extremely awkward in that he stared into my face like he could, in fact, see my eyes and gave me the laziest smile.
I turned around, cashed out, and grabbed a case of wine glasses and headed to my car. I heard him try to get my attention and was doing the best I could to drown that out. I don’t think that I have ever both found my car and got in it so fast. As I was passing the entrance to get to the street, he was waiving me down.
“You forgot your case of glasses.” He yelled as I was driving through. If it wasn’t for the slow person in front of me, I would have been on the street by now and back at the studio explaining to Marla how some Kofi Siriboe look alike had got in my head and fucked up my shopping trip.
I threw my Wrangler in reverse and backed up the small distance I had gotten past him.
“That ignore game strong, huh?” He opened my back door and put the other box of glasses in my backseat. “You were trying to get away from me that bad you forgot a case of glasses?” He placed his arms on my windowsill
“Did I inspire your wine glass purchase?” I asked.
He glanced down at his bag carrying two leprechaun baring glasses. He smirked and then brought his eyes slowly back up to mine, unapologetically pausing briefly to admire my cleavage.
“These are not for me. They’re for my girl.” His eyes were still flirting with mine when he let the disturbing words drip from his face.
“Yea, ok. I thought that you were hitting on me earlier.” I put my car back in drive.
“I was. I’ll repent later.” And he hit the top of my car like he was dismissing me. When he backed up, he said. “See I got out of this without even getting your number. But to be safe you gone have to stay away from me. Maybe I should get your number to call and verify we won’t be on the same side of town. I’m not going to be able to just keep running into you is what I’m saying. “
“I’m married but, have a good one Scar.” Called him that so that I would stop calling him Mr. Dark Chocolate in my head. Ain’t nothing sexy about a scar. Unless it was the only imperfection on a face as fine as his, then not only is it sexy, it perfects the face.
A must read!! I need more!

Thank You! I appreciate the feedback, I really do. I’m back in the lab finishing up Precious Cargo and we have a couple characters from Left at the Alter that are going to cross over. We will see a little more of what we didn’t know about Jeremy’s relationship with one of the twins.

This story was exactly what I thought it was going to be, but I absolutely LOVED the story. I didn’t think it would end like that in the beginning, but I am not surprised at all at the outcome. You have written some wonderful characters. Very real and recognizable. Thank you for sharing!
